St Augustine’s Church 2021
Tour of Our Building
The Parish Church of St. Augustine’s, Whitchurch
Take a tour of the new building
Opened October 2015
We approach the church from Whitchurch Lane (the main road through the Whitchurch estate). It is a White two story building with a brick built main hall that slopes away. The most noticeable feature as you approach the church is the 6m (19ft 6in) high steel cross on the front grassed area.
The church is located on the corner of Whitchurch Lane and Bridge Farm Road. The church building is located on the opposite side of the road to Bridge Farm Primary School.
The entrance to the car park is from Bridge Farm Road where the church entrance is located.
The brick part of the building is the Worship Space, the entrance door is in the centre and on the right with the glass front is the Cafe Area
As you view the front of the church you will see a patio area to the right which is fenced making it safe area for children to play. The patio is accessed through doors in our glass fronted Café Space seen behind.
As we go through the double doors we enter the foyer which we call “The Hub”
On entering through the main doors ahead is the foyer we call The Hub and the stairs to the first floor.
On the Left, through the double doors is our main hall we call the “Worship Space”.
To the right is the Café Area.
As we pass through the double doors into the Worship Space we are in an area that will normally seat 100 persons comfortably, (this can be increased to about 140 if required). In front, you will see two large TV screens we use during our services to display the words of hymns, the liturgy and notices.
This image shows the Worship Space from the left side front corner
This hall is available to hire and the furnishings can be removed if required but normally we just place all the seats around the edge for most hires. This allows for community events to use the building.

On leaving the Worship Space ahead is the Café Area which is very light with glass on two sides. The patio which surrounds the café windows is accessed through one of the three glass doors.
There is a serving counter which separates the café from the kitchen area.
The kitchen is fully equipped to modern standards and can cater for all types of events.
Back in the Hub and looking beyond the stairs are the various amenities including disabled and baby changing facilities.
Behind the stairs to the first floor is a disabled lift to assist the less able to access the first floor rooms. It is a platform lift (not an enclosed type) which can also be used to carry equipment.
LIFT
At the top of the stairs are our two meeting rooms, the church office and a small kitchenette to provide hot and cold drinks.
There is also a toilet adjacent to the kitchenette.
At the top of the stairs and facing with our backs to the Kitchenette is a corridor which leads to the two Meeting Rooms
At the end of the first floor corridor is Meeting Room 1 which will seat about 30 persons and is available for hire.
Just before is Meeting Room 2. This is a versatile room used for church activities, including as a “quiet space” when required.
Meeting Room 2 is not available for hire.
Descending the stairs into the Hub gives a good view of our building.
